Nashville SC has played four games under head coach BJ Callaghan, but the team hasn’t had the best start. While they have noticeably improved in the middle of the pitch, they have completely broken down in both boxes. And despite the small sample size, we can try to identify some early trends.
Attacking box
Let’s focus on the attacking end first, as I believe it’s the most straightforward problem to fix.
Nashville SC can’t finish. It’s really that simple. They have been excellent at moving the ball forward, transitioning from defense to attack, and playing the ball into the box. Before Callaghan arrived, NSC was dead last in entries into the box (passes or carries), with only 8.3 per game. Over the last two games, Nashville has nearly doubled that average, with 16 box entries per game.
