NASHVILLE, TN - Nashville SC captain Walker Zimmerman remains in the league's concussion protocol, head coach BJ Callaghan confirmed on Thursday ahead of Nashville's road match against the Seattle Sounders.
The defender was kicked in the face while clearing a ball during Nashville's 2-1 loss to Charlotte FC, receiving extensive treatment on the pitch before spending several hours at a local hospital, eventually flying home with the team that evening.
Zimmerman missed last weekend's 2-1 win over Real Salt Lake, as he continued to work through concussion protocol. 30-year-old Colombian center back Jeisson Palacios, signed by Nashville as a free agent this winter, slotted in for Zimmerman in his first MLS start and played exceptionally well. His emergence gives Nashville cover while Zimmerman continues to get back to full health.

"Walker's still in concussion protocol and moving through that the the required steps that we have," Callaghan told media, saying he couldn't make a prediction on if Zimmerman's participation on Saturday was likely or unlikely.
"The protocol has to take care of itself. It's a stage type of thing that happens on a daily daily basis. So we are truly in a day-to-day sort of environment with the protocol."
