Founded in 2022, Huntsville City FC is one of three independent-market clubs in MLS Next Pro, the third tier of American soccer. Along with Chattanooga FC and Carolina Core, Huntsville are one of the only sides to play in a market without MLS representation. They're also the only one of the three to serve as a second team for an MLS club as well, making their challenges and opportunities unique for a league full of second teams.
