Zimmerman helped lead Nashville to a clean sheet, their third in five matches. Additionally, the captain grabbed his second assist of the year, flicking a corner kick on for Josh Bauer to head home at the back post for his first MLS goal.
Jonny Pérez found out less than two hours before kickoff that he was starting the match. With winger Ahmed Qasem sick with a stomach bug, and Jacob Shaffelburg on international duty, Pérez played 83 minutes, causing Montréal problems all evening down the left wing and notching his first goal in MLS, a late strike to give Nashville a three-goal lead.
