Nashville SC Adds Six Players Through Expansion Draft, Trades

NASHVILLE, TN – The picks came fast and furious at Ole Red, where Nashville SC selected five players in the 2019 MLS Expanion Draft. Fellow expansion side Inter Miami CF announced their picks from Miami, and the event was broadcast on MLSSoccer.com. Below is a recap of each side’s pick.

  • PICK #1: Miami selects left-back Ben Sweat from NYCFC
  • PICK #2: Nashville selects forward Abu Danladi from Minnesota United
  • PICK #3: Miami selects right-back Alves Powell from FC Cincinnati
  • PICK #4: Nashville selects right-back Zarek Valentin from Portland Timbers, trades Valentin to Houston Dynamo for Joe Willis
  • PICK #5: Miami selects midfielder Lee Nguyen from LAFC
  • PICK #6: Nashville selects defender Jalil Anibaba from New England Revolution
  • PICK #7: MIami selects midfielder Luis Argudo from Columbus Crew
  • PICK #8: Nashville selects forward Brandon Vazquez from Atlanta United, trades Vazquez to FC Cincinnati for $150k TAM
  • PICK #9: Miami selects goalkeeper Bryan Meredith from Seattle Sounders
  • PICK #10: Nashville selects winger Jimmy Medranda from Sporting Kansas City

In addition to their selection, Nashville SC made two trades immediately following the draft. They sent $50k in GAM, $125k in TAM and a 2020 international spot to Sporting Kansas City for backup ‘keeper Adrián Zendejas. They also traded $50k in GAM, $50k in TAM and a 2020 international roster spot to Montreal Impact for left-back Dan Lovitz, a recent regular in the US Men’s National Team squads.

Nashville SC currently have 15 players signed to their senior roster. They’ll begin play in MLS on February 29, 2020, against Atlanta United at Nissan Stadium.
