Nashville SC announce 2025 coaching staff

NASHVILLE, TN - Nashville SC announced the additions of three new members of their coaching staff on Wednesday, joining head coach BJ Callaghan and assistant John Bello.

Michael Nsien joins as assistant coach. Nsien played for the LA Galaxy reserves in 2005 and the Portland Timbers in USL Championship in 2006. At the coaching level, Nsien started with the Tulsa Roughnecks (now FC Tulsa) in the USL Championship as an assistant, before eventually serving as the head coach from 2018-2022. In 2022, Nsien took over as the US National Team U16 head coach, and most recently coached the U19 team since 2023.

Danny Cepero joins as the goalkeeper coach. Cepero played for the New York Red Bulls from 2007-2009, making 15 appearances and becoming the first goalkeeper to score a goal from open play during the 2008 season.

After his playing career ended, Cepero coached collegiately as an assistant with Florida Gulf Coast (2011-2013) and the University of Louisville (2013-2017), before joining New York City FC, where he was the academy goalkeeper coach from 2018-2022 and the assistant coach for NYCFC II in MLS NEXT Pro.

Dr. Robert Butler joins as Nashville's new Director of High Performance. Butler served in the same capacity for the St. Louis Cardinals in Major League Baseball from 2016-2023. He's also been a professer at Duke University and a team member with the FIFA Medical Center of Excellence. Butler holds a PhD in Biomechanics and Movement Science from the University of Delaware and a Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) from the University of Evansville.
