NASHVILLE, TN – Nashville SC announced the signing of free agent midfielder Amar Sejdić on Thursday. Sejdić, 27, is signed through the 2024 season with an option for 2025.

Drafted by CF Montréal in 2019 after four years at the University of Maryland, the Louisville native played 23 matches for the Impact, scoring twice and assisting once. He was traded to Atlanta United in the middle of the 2021 season, where he played 56 matches, adding four assists.

Typically deployed as a defensive midfielder, Sejdić can also play in a more box-to-box role. He’s a different profile of passer than Nashville’s other midfielders, and will look to open the field with quick diagonals out to the wings. For a team that typically struggles to break down a defense, Sejdić provides a needed option in midfield.

Sejdić won’t replace Dax McCarty, but he’s a similar profile of player and will give Gary Smith another rotation piece to call on in a busy season.
