Nashville SC sign midfielder Edvard Tagseth

NASHVILLE, TN – Nashville SC made the first signing of the 2025 offseason on Tuesday, announcing the arrival of midfielder Edvard Tagseth.

The 23-year-old Norwegian signs as a free agent after spending the last six seasons with Rosenborg BK in the Eliteserien, the top division in Norway.

“Eddi provides a needed role in our midfield as a ball progressor and chance creator, and his ability to fight and compete on both sides of the ball has been a calling card for him thus far in his career.  We are excited to be able to add him to our group,” said Nashville SC General Manager Mike Jacobs in the club’s official release.

Tagseth joined the academy of famed English powerhouse Liverpool as a 14-year-old, where he eventually played a key role in their U18 side’s run to the final of the FA Youth Cup in 2018. In all, he made 28 appearances for Liverpools U18 and U19 sides, scoring three goals and adding four assists.

After returning home to Norway with Rosenborg in 2019, Tagseth quickly became a key part of the club. In his six seasons, he made 138 appearances, scoring nine goals and adding 19 assists. His best season came this past year, when he scored six goals and added four assists as Rosenborg finished in ninth-place in the Eliteserien.

On the international stage, Tagseth has represented Norway from the U15 to U21 levels. In all, he has made 44 appearances and scored nine goals, making three appearances at the U19 Euros.

With Nashville SC moving on from midfielders Aníbal Godoy, Brian Anunga, Dru Yearwood and Amar Sejdić this offseason, Tagseth is the first addition to a significant midfield overhaul. He looks likely to be paired with summer signing Patrick Yazbek, his former Eliteserien opponent with Viking FK.
