NASHVILLE, TN – Nashville SC officially announced the signing of Australian midfielder Patrick Yazbek on Monday morning. Yazbek, 22, joins from Viking FK in the Norwegian top flight for a reported $3.2 million transfer fee. Yazbek joins as a U22 Initiative signing, meaning his acquisition costs do not count against the salary cap.
Yazbek played in 45 matches since joining Viking in 2022, scoring twice and adding seven assists. Prior to his move to Norway, Yazbek came through the Sydney FC academy, eventually making 40 appearances for the first team. The Liverpool, Australia native made his debut with the Socceroos in March, notching an assist in a 2026 World Cup qualifier against Lebanon.
“Patrick is a progressive midfielder who helps create scoring chances out of midfield with his robust and dynamic link-up play,” said Nashville SC General Manager Mike Jacobs. “His experiences with the Australian National Team as well as play in the top division in Norway at such a young age have already demonstrated unique attributes that should translate here in Major League Soccer.”
Yazbek joins Dru Yearwood as Nashville’s current U22 players, with one additional spot left open. Nashville’s three designated player slots are occupied by Hany Mukhtar, Walker Zimmerman and Sam Surridge.
Yazbek is eligible to make his Nashville SC debut in their 2024 Leagues Cup opener on July 31 against Mazatlán FC.
