NASHVILLE, TN - Nashville SC have signed Wyatt Meyer to a contract through 2025 with club options through 2028, the club announced on Friday. Meyer, 24, was selected 11th overall in the 2024 SuperDraft out of the University of California, Berkley.

After returning to Cal for his senior year, Meyer joined Nashville in preseason training, where he's been a standout both as a center back as well as in midfield. While his Cal center back partner Kevin Carmichael has signed with Huntsville, Meyer makes the jump to MLS.

“Wyatt came into preseason with the first team in tremendous form after an outstanding collegiate career and demonstrated his versatility and ability to contribute in both midfield and the back line,” said Nashville SC General Manager Mike Jacobs in the press release.  “His range of passing and decision-making put him in position to help our group in a number of different roles.”

Meyer made 58 appearances at Cal between 2020 and 2023 before being taken in the 2024 SuperDraft. Returning for a fifth season at the collegiate level, he made just eight appearances in 2024, limited by injury.

Meyer is a strong aerial presence, but his real strength is distribution. He's an accomplished passer from a center back position and gives Nashville a different option in build-out phases. He's also capable of playing in a central midfield role, where he's started Nashville's last two preseason matches.

Meyer will wear the number 28 shirt for Nashville.
