NASHVILLE, TN – Nashville SC announced Saturday that they have acquired defender Dylan Nealis from Inter Miami CF for $175,000 in GAM plus an additional $50,000 if Nealis meets certain performance based metrics. Nealis is signed for the 2021 season, with club options for 2022 and 2023.
“Dylan is an outstanding defender who can contribute on both sides of the ball and has the potential to fit into our group really well,” said Nashville SC General Manager Mike Jacobs in the club’s statement. “He has a lot of the positive attributes we look for in players and will be a welcome addition.”
Nealis, 22, was the third overall pick in last year’s SuperDraft, and played 19 matches in his first season in MLS. Alistair Johnston, the 11th pick in the draft, is Nashville’s starting right back, playing in 21 matches in the 2020 season. Johnston recently earned his first callup to the Canadian national team, and will likely miss time for the Gold Cup and World Cup qualifying. With Nealis and recently re-signed Eric Miller, Nashville have a pair of capable options who can fill in when needed, and push for starting minutes.
