NASHVILLE, TN – On Friday, Nashville SC announced that defender Shaq Moore has been traded to FC Dallas for $50,000 in 2025 General Allocation Money (GAM), plus an additional $100,000 in GAM if certain performance-based incentives are met.
Moore, 28, joined Nashville via transfer in the summer of 2022 for a reported $1.9 million from Tenerife in Spain. In total, he made 83 appearances (76 starts) in all competitions, locking down a starting spot on the right side of the defense.
While Moore was a solid defender, he never quite lived up to expectations in the final third, logging a total of 12 assists during his time in Music City. His salary and acquisition costs meant that he had a sizeable impact on Nashville’s budget charge, and the move frees up much-needed cap space for Nashville, who will look to find similar production for a lower cost.
Currently, 22-year-old Julain Gaines appears to be the starting right back on Nashville’s roster. The former LAFC defender impressed in limited minutes under BJ Callaghan after returning from a broken ankle earlier in the season, and is highly rated within the club. Nashville will likely look to add more depth at the position before the season begins.
