NASHVILLE, TN – Nashville SC officially announced that winger McKinze Gaines has been traded to the Houston Dynamo, as first reported by Broadway Sports Media on Saturday. Houston send $75,000 in 2025 General Allocation Money in return.
Gaines, 26, was was acquired by Nashville from Charlotte FC this winter in exchange for the 38th-overall pick in the 2024 MLS SuperDraft. He played 276 minutes in seven appearances for Nashville (two starts), scoring in the Concacaf Champions Cup against Moca FC and notching an assist against LA Galaxy.
Simultaneously, Nashville announced the acquisition of a 2024 and 2025 international roster slot from Philadelphia Union for $350,000 in 2025 GAM. The move gives Nashville one open international slot to work with ahead of the close of MLS’s primary transfer window tomorrow, April 23.
The move may not signal an imminent arrival – Nashville similarly acquired a slot last April, which they held until the secondary transfer window to sign Designated Player Sam Surridge. The secondary transfer window aligns with the global summer transfer window, the primary time when top players from Europe and South America will be available.
