Nashville SC played their first preseason match against MLS opposition on Friday, drawing 0-0 with Charlotte FC in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.
The XI
Head coach BJ Callaghan rolled out a fairly strong lineup, giving another start to midfielders Edvard Tagseth and Patrick Yazbek, with 17-year-old center back Chris Applewhite holding down his place on the back line.
The second half brought full-scale changes, including the first appearance of goalkeeper Brian Schwake, just signed by the club on Thursday.
An interesting name in the lineup was Matthew Corcoran. The 18-year-old center midfielder has spent the last several seasons with Birmingham Legion in USL Championship after coming through the FC Dallas academy. Additionally, he received his first call-up to the US U-20 national team in January.
Able to play as a box-to-box No. 8 or as a deeper-lying No. 6, Corcoran would be an intriguing young signing with both plenty of professional experience already, and plenty of room to develop.
