Nashville SC downed the US Men's National Team U-20s in their first preseason action of 2025, with 2022 MLS MVP winner Hany Mukhtar opening the scoring.

Heading into his first full season, head coach BJ Callaghan fielded a very strong lineup. With captain Walker Zimmerman away with the senior US National Team, newly-signed homegrown defender Chris Applewhite slotted into the backline alongside Jack Maher.

New signings Edvard Tagseth and Gastón Brugman slotted to a new-look midfield, with summer signing Patrick Yazbek the only holdover from last season. Hany Mukhtar opened the scoring in the first half, slotting home a ball from Dan Lovitz to find the back of the net.

After full-scale changes to the second-half lineup, including starts for 2024 SuperDraft selections Wyatt Meyer and Bryce Boneau, Nashville continued to make it a one-sided affair. Woobens Pacius scored after a stellar campaign with Huntsville City last season, with the Canadian attacker looking to stake a claim with the first-team.

Adem Sipić rounded out the scoring, converting a pass from Jacob Shaffelburg to make it a comfortable and confidence-boosting win for Nashville.

The Coyotes will take on Charlotte FC next Friday in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, before returning to Nashville for the second phase of preseason training.

Nashville SC will allow some season ticket holders into their February 1 friendly against Lexington United SC at Geodis Park. Make sure to check your emails for information on how to access the match.
