Report: Nashville SC receives Qatari bid for Hany Mukhtar

NASHVILLE, TN - Nashville SC have received a lucrative offer for reigning MLS MVP Hany Mukhtar from the Qatari Stars League.

First reported by Al Kass and Transfermarkt‘s Manuel Veth and confirmed by Broadway Sports Media, the offer attempts to entice Nashville to sell the current best attacker in MLS on one of the best stretches of form the league has ever seen. Nashville are expected to fill their open Designated Player sport this summer as the continue to push for silverware. They’re currently third in the Supporters’ Shield race.

Mukhtar’s production continues to draw interest from Europe and beyond. With a stunning 60 goals and 35 assists in 107 MLS matches, he’s been far and away the most productive player in the league, even earning calls from some corners of the German media for inclusion in the 2022 World Cup squad.

Simply put, there’s no reason for Nashville to sell. They’ve received multiple high-value offers for Mukhtar in the past and haven’t been swayed by any of them. He’s under contract through 2025, with a club option for 2026. There’s no reason to sell the best player in the league when you’re within touching distance of a trophy.

There also seems to be no desire from Mukhtar to leave. He’s healthy and playing the best form of his career in Nashville. He just got married to a Nashvillian (at Geodis Park, I might add) and is heavily involved in his recently-opened Mukhtar Academy.

As long as Mukhtar continues to produce at an elite level, fans should get used to reports of interest from Europe and beyond. But as things stand, there’s no reason to expect him to leave Music City anytime soon.
