Nashville SC are on a three-match win streak, and are back at Geodis Park on Saturday night to take on FC Cincinnati in what some view as a rivalry match.

For the latest on the Garys, we caught up with Laurel Pfahler, Publisher and Senior Writer at Queen City Press. Laurel does absolutely incredible work covering FC Cincinnati – make sure to check out her site and coverage at QueenCityPress.net.

Ben Wright (SixOneFive Soccer): Cincinnati had some major movement in the winter window, with Lucho Acosta leaving and bringing in some massive pieces. What have you made of their moves, and how have the new pieces come together on the pitch?

Laurel Pfahler (Queen City Press): The timing of Acosta’s departure was disappointing because FC Cincinnati had spent $16.2 million to acquire new DP forward Kévin Denkey from Cercle Brugge, and the preseason essentially was a wash because he didn’t get hardly any time on the pitch with the players that would be key to his success.

Fortunately, FCC had a replacement immediately lined up and Evander was able to come in and contribute right away, but not until after preseason. The club also purchased Luca Orellano’s contract at the end of his loan from Vasco da Gama, but he said he was promised a raise and so he showed up late and then waffled between being injured and not willing to play until he got an extension and bump in salary the day before the MLS opener.
